About Andrew
Andrew provides structured tutoring in Alberta Biology, Chemistry and Physics, specialising in the 20- and 30-level courses. His sessions suit students who want a clear explanation of the material followed by purposeful practice applying and understanding it. He places particular emphasis on scientific reasoning: identifying relevant evidence, choosing an appropriate relationship and explaining why an answer is reasonable. Calculations, diagrams and written responses receive equal attention. Andrew's manner is calm and direct, with room for questions throughout; he encourages students to say exactly which step is unclear rather than wait until the end of an explanation.
Tutoring experience
Andrew has six and a half years of private tutoring experience, supporting students through weekly course work, assessment preparation and summer review. His work has included Biology 30 genetics questions, Chemistry 20 stoichiometry and Physics 30 electricity and magnetism. He has tutored students revisiting earlier material as well as those seeking more demanding practice, adapting the pace without losing sight of the course requirements.
Teaching approach
An initial review of recent work establishes priorities. Lessons then combine a concise explanation, guided questions and an independent task. Andrew keeps a record of recurring errors and returns to them in later sessions. Before an assessment, practice is organised by both topic and question type, with time reserved for interpreting command words and presenting complete solutions.
